Luxury Palace in Budapest

Budapest’s luxury real estate market offers something for everyone: from those who love the downtown buzz of Pest to the serenity seekers residing in green Buda. Size, décor and location requirements vary, but all can agree that the Várkert Palota, standing out along the riverside of the Danube in Budapest, embodies the true definition of luxury.

The palace is located in Ybl Miklós tér. It was built in 1879 and designed by internationally known architect, Miklós Ybl, for whom the square is named. It is situated at the foot of the Buda Castle in close proximity to Gellért Hill.  A designated World Heritage Site, the palace has played an integral role in Budapest’s entertainment scene; including hosting a casino for 15 years. In front is a well-kept park and fountain. The 2,000 square meter area and magnificent panorama will continue to provide timeless memories to any dining, wedding or entertainment events.

The palace, originally designed as an engine room for the water supply system of the Royal Palace, was built on one of the oldest streets in Budapest, the Hosszúsor. When the engine room became obsolete, it was refurbished and went on to serve many roles including as a coffee house in 1905 and a music pavilion in 1913.

Most recently renovated in 1992, the building has served as a casino for the past 15 years. At 8 million EUR, this palace is awaiting its next luxury function in Budapest.
